By Jonathan AnguraTHE Bishop of Busoga Diocese, Dr. Michael Kyomya, on Sunday broke down in tears moments before ordaining deacons for the first time since he was consecrated bishop. The ordination ceremony took place at Christ Cathedral, Bugembe in Jinja, where 52 candidates including two women were ordained deacons after training in various theological institutions. After sitting on the throne at the altar, the first candidate was brought infront of him to be ordained but Kyomya knelt facing the altar and tears rolled down his checks forcing the clergy to stand around him to shield away the press from taking his snaps. Even the candidate to be ordained had tears rolling down his checks forcing the master of ceremonies, also Jinja Archdeacon, Can Daniel Kizza, to lead the rest of the congregation in singing a popular chorus Tukutendereza Yesu…(We praise you Jesus) as the Bishop recovered. Some of the clergy were heard saying that it was the power of the Holy Spirit that had descended on the bishop to enable him perform his first ordination ceremony well. After five minutes, Kyomya commenced the function that was punctuated by jubilation and ululation from a crowd estimated at 3,000 that filled the church to capacity.Ends
