Boy beaten for eating meat before food

This happened on August 2 when Nantume was having her lunch. as usual, the neighbour’s son, Allan came to her house and was given a plate of matooke and pieces of meat. For long, Nantume had warned Allan not to eat meat first because whoever found them eating would think he had not been given meat.Unfortunately, Allan did not heed the warning because it meant nothing to him. so even on this day, he ate meat first and and the food later. “You child, what did I tell you? Didn’t I tell you never to eat meat first? if your father comes, what will he think of me. it would obviously appear as if I didn’t give you meat and he would think me a greedy woman,” she said, as she slapped the small child who started crying.The noise awakened Allan’s father in the next room and he came running to find out what was wrong. the child narrated, “She told me not to eat meat first and when I did so, she beat me.”This made Nantume more angry who even quarrelled with the father, who rubbished her reasons of beating the child. He said her reasons were childish and simplistic and walked away with his son but she left her still shouting and quarreling although the man was diplomatic enough not to exchange many words with her because he knew Allan would certainly go back to her.
