ARUA — Over 340,000 children in the district have enrolled for Universal Primary Education (UPE) this year, the district education officer, Nicholas Tembo, has said.

ARUA — Over 340,000 children in the district have enrolled for Universal Primary Education (UPE) this year, the district education officer, Nicholas Tembo, has said. He said that 168,000 were girls. He said the number of girls was increasing every year. Tembo said another 7500 children who are refugees from the DR Congo and Sudan were also enrolled. “Over the years, we have managed to construct 380 schools in the district and people are now more sensitised about the importance of education,” Tembo observed.
