TANZANIAN lightweight pugilist Venance Mponji, who fights Justin Juuko (pictured) on New year’s day in Masaka, will drown according to his Ugandan host.
“He (Mponji) should be prepared to drown in Lake Nabugabo when we meet on New Year’s day in my home town,†Juuko said from his training camp.
“I cannot embarrass my fans here and I cannot drown in my own lake. He will drink all the water there because its all his and no one will help him out in there.â€
Juuko who is 37-7-1(27 KOs) will be staging his first fight at home dubbed “Coming Home†at Masaka Recreational ground. The fight comes 16 weeks after a gruelling battle that he had with another Tanzanian Godfrey Mawe.
“I have heard that he throws many punches and is very fast in the ring,†Juuko said of his opponent.
“I like it that way and the only way I am going to get him is by cutting him down like timber.â€
Mponji stands at 16-3(8KOs)
The fight that is being sponsored by Sage Paints and Premium Distillers will feature Dodo “Judah†Obong (junior welter) against Kenyan James Kipasi and lightweight Moses “Master Buddha†Kyandika tussling it out with Ochwo Ddungu in an all-Ugandan contest.Ends
