By John Eremu THE Forum for Non-governmental Organisations in Education (FENU) has been launched with an appeal to member organisations to cooperate rather than compete among themselves. The state minister for primary education, Geraldine Bitamazire, launched the coalition of over 60 NGOs at Pope Paul Memorial Centre on Monday. She said improving education quality in Uganda was everybody's responsibility but not that of President Yoweri Museveni alone. Bitamazire said competition was healthy for other sectors but not in social services. "I have seen NGOs closing out others because of competition," Bitamazire said. "Some people argue that competition is healthy. But competition is good for other aspects like football and politics. But in social development, cooperation is preferred," she said. She said education for all could not be achieved without involving the civil society and for this reason, the ministry has a NGO coordinating officer. Ends
