By John B. Thawite The captured Allied Democratic Force (ADF) rebel director of records, has said Abdallah Yusuf Kabanda was to be Uganda's president if the ADF captured state power. Hajji Saddat Kinobe, 35, was speaking at Kanyabutunda UPDF barracks on arrival from Mutwanga, eastern DR Congo, where he was captured last week. "He was the leader we started with and we have been told he is the highest in the ADF" he said. Kinobe, however, told journalists that the ADF high command had recently been annihilated in the UPDF offensive leaving Kabanda alone. "The high command no longer exists. Kabanda is now alone and on the run in the Rwenzori jungle," he said adding that, five of the six people in the high command had been killed." "We have lost very many commanders. A big number has been killed, others have surrendered, died in action or escaped," he said. Kinobe said the ADF were between 2,500 and 3,000 at the beginning of the war in 1996. "The current number does not exceed 150," he said. He said he joined the group in 1996 after being convinced by one Moses, who later died at the Uganda/DR Congo border area of Mpondwe. Ends
