UGANDA’s representatives to the East African Legislative Assembly have rejected an expensive hotel booked for them in Arusha, citing poor services.
The MPs checked out on Tuesday after spending one night.
Impala hotel, one kilometre from the town centre is owned by a prominent Tanzanian businessman who had also donated four free rooms to the East African Community.
The delegates were booked on seventh floor, which they said has no internal phone connection.
They said the hotel has poor sanitation.
Some of the bathroom were overflowing with water and the stench from the poor drainage forced them to leave.
The second and third floors were reserved for the Tanzania and Kenya MPs.
Kenyan Parliament was last night due to vote their representatives to the assembly.
East African community officials could not be reached for a comment as they were in a day-long meeting.
