Dr. Michael Kawooya of the Department of Radiology at Makerere University has said the number of qualified radiographers in Uganda is inadequate.
This, he said, has led to poor service delivery.
"The situation is appalling. We are only 25 qualified radiographers in the whole of Uganda and the population is over 22 million. We need at least 400 radiographers to meet the increasing demand," he said.
Kawooya was addressing members of the Uganda Society for Advancement of Radiology in Kampala on Monday. It attracted participants from Nigeria, Kenya, Germany, Denmark, Tunisia and Uganda.
