Why split Wakiso into three districts now?

The rationale for the decision remains as illusive to outsiders as it is to some of us. It is strange why the idea has come up now because it had never come up whether in councils or among the public.

Wakiso is one of the fastest growing districts. Why rush such an important decision? It seems this is the influence of some politicians who lost in the recently concluded elections. There are chairpersons as well as councillors who have seen a grand opportunity to return to the political scene.

The second fastest growing district in the country is in the hands of politicians who have decided to press the 'self-destruct' button after being rejected by the people.

They have now seen an opportunity to change things around before their term expires next month!

The decision of parliament to lock out losing members is very meaningful here.

This law should be replicated by local governments.
