SEBASTIAN Kigongo, the national cycling champion clocked two hours, 35 minutes and 14 seconds in the All Africa Games preparation trails in a 160km race from Kawempe to Luwero Nakasongola and back.

The time was comparatively better (speed) than what the cyclist posted over a 105km distance (3:01.05sec) where he finished second, a minute behind his rival Leon Matovu last month. According to the local champion, he has more surprises waiting.

“I am having workouts which I believe is what is keeping me fit and each day that passes I feel I am getting better,” Kigongo explained.

Matovu finished seven seconds behind Kigongo as Archilies Katumba (2:35.57sec) maintained third position for the second time in a row.

The only female, who turned up for the trails Immaculate Naggayi, finished her 20km ride in 39 minutes 59 seconds. The next trails are scheduled for mid-August.
