67 people hospitalised in Madagascar due to suspected food poisoning

ANTANANARIVO — Sixty-seven people were hospitalized on Sunday following a suspected food poisoning incident in Antananarivo, capital of Madagascar, said the country's Ministry of Public Health.
According to the ministry, the victims showed symptoms including headaches, dizziness and diarrhoea, and were immediately taken to local hospitals for treatment.
A preliminary investigation suggested that the poisoning may be linked to cooking oil used in the preparation of food consumed by the victims.
Madagascar's Ministry of Industry, Trade and Consumption ordered the temporary closure of the shops involved. Inspections were carried out on site, and samples of the products used were collected for laboratory testing to determine the cause of the poisoning.
