Rally driver Moustapha Mukasa is set to kick off the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally on Thursday, May 8, 2025, with his sights firmly set on the Africa Rally Championship (ARC2) title.
Mukasa, who finished third in the National Rally Championship behind champion Jas Mangat and runner-up Ronald Sebuguzi, confirmed that his car is in peak condition following recent upgrades.
“We’ve rebuilt the engine, and we’re ready for the challenge ahead,” Mukasa said after scrutineering at Shell in Mbarara. “This year, our target is the ARC2 title. With God’s grace, we believe we can achieve our dream.”
Mukasa, sponsored by Equity Bank, will go head-to-head with defending ARC2 champion and KCB Bank ambassador Michael Mukula Jr. Both drivers are making their season debut at the Pearl Rally, and the winner will take an early lead in the standings.
A total of 50 cars passed scrutineering and will begin the event on Thursday with the qualifying stage and shakedown.
The three-day continental rally, which also serves as the third round of the National Rally Championship, is sponsored by Shell V-Power and KCB Bank.
