UPDATE AS AT 6PM FRIDAY
Incumbent President Yoweri Museveni of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) kept within a comfortable lead Friday, with the 6pm provisional presidential results released by the Electoral Commission (EC) showing he had garnered 6,003,657 votes, which was 74.92% of the valid tallied votes at the time.
EC chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama said the total number of polling stations from which they had tallied results received so far was 35,491, which represented 69.95% of the total number of polling stations.
The other presidential candidates had thus far received the following votes:
▪️ Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu of the National Unity Platform (NUP): 1,709,474 votes (21.33%)
▪️ James Nathan Nandala Mafabi of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC): 157,111 votes (1.96%)
▪️ Gregory Mugisha Muntu of Alliance for National Transformation (ANT): 44,367 votes (0.55%)
▪️ Frank Bulira Kabinga of Revolutionary People’s Party (RPP): 35,315, votes (0.44%)
▪️ Robert Kasibante of the National Peasants Party (NPP): 24,564 votes (0.31%)
▪️Mubarak Munyagwa of Common Man's Party (CMP): 22,232 votes (0.28%)
▪️Joseph Mabirizi of the Conservative Party (CP):16,813 (0.21%)
“The valid votes all together of the candidates so far are 8,013,533. Invalid votes are 202,808, constituting 2.47% of the total votes cast," said Byabakama.
The total votes tallied so far are 8,216, 341 representing 37.95% of the registered voters. Spoilt votes are 27, 740.
The total number of registered voters is 21,649,067 on the national voter's register and the total number of polling stations is 50,739.
Byabakama said EC would be releasing the results at regular intervals and the next session would be at 10pm on Friday.
