With the 2026 general elections rapidly approaching, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has intensified its mobilisation efforts across the Bukedi sub-region, rolling out a renewed grassroots campaign aimed at securing victories for all party flag bearers.
The drive, led by party national treasurer Barbra Nekesa Oundo, is focusing on NRM party structures at every level, including district executive committees, subcounty chairpersons, parliamentary flag bearers and local council candidates.
The goal is to rebuild momentum and consolidate the party’s political dominance in the area.
Activities began on December 1 2025, in Pallisa and Butebo districts, where NRM leaders engaged directly with residents. The renewed effort is centred on informing and educating the public about what the party describes as its long-standing achievements in governance and service delivery.
"We want our people to understand the good things NRM has done for them. We want them to see the progress, the development, the things that have truly improved their lives. We are not just promising things, we are showing them the work we have already done," Oundo said during a rally in Pallisa.

According to Oundo, the outreach is intended to help communities recognise that the roads, health facilities, schools and other services they rely on stem from what she termed the NRM’s progressive leadership.
NRM spokesperson Rodgers Mulindwa emphasised unity within the party, noting that internal cohesion would be essential in delivering victory in the upcoming polls.
“We are here to remind our people that it's your sole responsibility to continue the message even when we're not here. Let's make sure everyone votes NRM from the top to the bottom," Mulindwa said.
During the meetings, leaders also reiterated the party’s firm stance against independents, warning NRM officials not to associate with them. They said that any conduct perceived as undermining official party candidates would not be tolerated.
“Loyalty to the party is paramount; therefore, members of the party structure, use your positions wisely, don't abuse the powers you have because you may regret in the near future. Some independents are independent to themselves, and even you who claim to be supporting them now, and remember, we as NRM our symbol is a bus and a moving one. How do you lean on it? Do you want to cause an accident?" Oundo questioned.
After engagements in Pallisa and Butebo, the NRM mobilisation team is expected to proceed to Budaka and Kibuku on Tuesday (December 2), before completing the tour in Butaleja and Busia on Wednesday (December 3).
