President Museveni campaigned in Kiryandongo and Masindi, urging citizens to focus on wealth creation through commercial agriculture and the four-acre model. He promised to fast-track Masindi’s urban development, include it in the new USMID programme, address land-grabbing, and protect sugarcane farmers. Museveni also pledged more tractors and a new Lake Albert ferry to boost trade. He said oil production starting in 2026 will fund infrastructure but warned against relying on it, emphasising sustainable farming for household income.

Water scarcity remains a major challenge in Mayuge, with many residents trekking long distances to collect water from unsafe sources. Others are forced to buy water from private tanks at costs ranging from sh200 to sh500.
According to Bilal Maba, LC1 chairperson of Victoria Cell, Nkalanga Ward, Bwondha Town Council, more than 50,000 people near the lake shores and Bwondha landing site lack access to clean water.
