Ex-presidential candidate Muntu says ANT to build on Kasule’s election win

Former presidential candidate Maj. Gen. (rtd) Gregory Mugisha Muntu says he is optimistic about changing Uganda's political mindset.
Muntu, who was flying the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) flag during the recently concluded presidential elections, cited his party's recent win in Hoima City West Division Member of Parliament seat contest with Ismail Kasule declared.
“I congratulate Kasule for this historic win as we build on his victory to continue our grassroot mobilisation towards selecting trusted leaders with cherished values towards service delivery that resists corruption in our society. Even if it takes us years, we will continue slowly by slowly to look for capable leaders who will be able to drive this country forward,” Muntu said when contacted on the phone on January 20, 2026.
In the 2021 General Election, we only got an LC5 chairperson for Terego district, Wilfred Saka, whom we believe has served his people well and acted as our ambassador towards what the ANT party wants to give Ugandans, he added.

Muntu, who highlighted the rising frustration among voters, declared that Ugandans are tired of lack of transparency, fairness, and accountability from their leaders.

Addressing supporters at ANT headquarters in Bukoto, Kampala, on January 20, Kasule thanked God for His grace, guidance and protection during this milestone journey in a new political environment that seeks to shape the country towards a new direction.
“I am very grateful and humbled that the people of Hoima City West Division chose me to represent them in Parliament under the ANT. Your strong support and trust made this possible. Thank you for believing in our shared vision,” Kasule said.
My promise remains the same: I will serve Hoima West, Bunyoro, and all of Uganda with honesty and hard work, he declared.
“I will stand for fair leadership, unity, value for money, household development, human rights, and value addition in agriculture to bring more prosperity to our farmers and families.”
