It was all pomp as Don Douglas Mugyenyi was installed as the 39th president of the Rotary Club of Mbarara for 2023/24.
Mugyenyi assumed office from Godlive Nayebare in an installation ceremony held at Children Peace Park (CPP) Rotary House in Kiyanja, Mbarara city, and was presided over by district governor-elect Francisco Ssemwanga, with Kazo MP Dan Kimosho as the chief guest.
While addressing the gathering, Kimosho commended the work being done by the Rotary family by extending health, education and other forms of services to the disadvantaged in the community.
“My constituency is among the beneficiaries in the recent countrywide distribution of tricycle village ambulances. We even got water facilities in Buremba sub-county. Such services bring hope to people,” commended Kimosho.
“Helping communities does not necessarily mean that you should be rich but rather the love and willingness to give I therefore argue rotary members to keep complimenting on government in ensuring that our communities are better,” he added.
Ssemwanga asked Rotary clubs in the region to focus much on increasing membership.
“With the trust I have in new leadership, I hope this club will grow its membership further and be able to empower communities through carrying out various projects,” Ssemwanga said.
Kimosho later contributed sh5m to the Rotary Club of Mbarara to help finance some of the ongoing projects.
