The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Beijing has engaged tourism stakeholders and business representatives at the Henan Culture and Tourism Industry Expo (CTIC) 2026 to explore opportunities for cultural exchange, tourism promotion, and investment partnerships.
The one-week event running from 18th to 23rd May in Henan Province, China, has brought together key players: the tourism, hospitality, transportation, and cultural sectors, attracting over 60,000 attendees and more than 10,000 exhibitors from across the globe.
The event, according to the Uganda mission, showcased a wide range of innovations and opportunities in tourism development, including transportation solutions such as Sinotruk vehicles, hotels and accommodation services, crafts and cultural artifacts, as well as displays of diverse tourism destinations.
The Uganda delegation was led by Ambassador Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Geoffrey Muheesi Baraba, Deputy Head of Mission.
During the Expo, Ambassador Baraba emphasised Uganda’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with China in the fields of tourism, culture, trade, and investment.
A release from the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda highlighted Uganda’s rich cultural heritage, diverse tourism attractions, and favourable investment climate, encouraging Chinese investors and tourists to explore the vast opportunities available in Uganda.
The media handout adds that the Beijing mission remains committed to promoting Uganda’s cultural heritage, tourism potential, and economic opportunities through strategic engagements and international partnerships.
The Embassy’s participation in the Expo, according to diplomats, provided a valuable platform for networking and strengthening international cooperation within the culture and tourism industry.
"It also contributed to enhancing Uganda’s visibility as a competitive tourism and investment destination on the global stage.
