Finally, the curtains of our four-part Team Base Camps series come down in Agadir, Tangier and Fes on this Christmas Day. A trip to Morocco with an itinerary that does not include adventures to three AFCON cities is a raw deal. It makes for a less complete Moroccan experience. Of course, Morocco offers diverse experiences. But while the likes of
Rabat,
Casablanca and
Marrakesh still offer memorable highlights from the kingdom, Agadir, Tangier and Fes guarantee a combination of vibes from their European-influenced coasts and their ancient medinas.
I have been to all three cities in my previous five visits to Morocco. They have a bit of everything: rich history, vibrant culture and trade.
Agadir, widely considered as Morocco’s most beautiful city, is known for its long, sandy beaches, year-round sunshine, modern vibe, and mix of natural beauty with Moroccan culture.
Football fans following the four teams of Egypt, Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique that are based in Agadir will certainly appreciate the blend of relaxation and cultural exploration in this city.

📍 AGADIRAgadir is worth visiting because it’s a place where you can breathe. It’s a city that offers the best of both worlds — the charm of Morocco, but with an ease and calm that is hard to find elsewhere in the country.
Four countries have taken up residence in this beach city. Egypt, Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique are accommodated at the Fairmont Taghazout Bay, Hyatt Regency Taghazout, Hyatt Place and the Hilton Taghazout, respectively.
Over the years, Agadir has transformed into the country´s most exclusive coastal resort, featuring modern architecture, large hotels and golf courses.

TEAM HOTELS GROUP B 🇪🇬 EGYPT - Fairmont Taghazout Bay Fairmont Taghazout Bay in Taghazout offers a private beach area and beachfront access. The Pharoahs of Egypt are certainly able to enjoy the stunning views of the sea. The cheapest room goes for $400 (sh1.4m).

GROUP F 🇬🇦 GABON - Hyatt Place Taghazout Bay Hyatt Place Taghazout Bay is paradise. One of the standout features in this hotel are the two outdoor swimming pools, where one is cold and the other is heated. The cheapest room goes for $150 (sh500,000).

🇨🇲 CAMEROON - Hyatt Regency TaghazoutThis five-star resort is a breathtaking retreat located at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean and a stone's throw away from the fairways of the stunning 27-hole Taghazout Golf Club. Don’t be surprised seeing Cameroon players play a round of golf on their off-days. The cheapest room costs $230 (sh800,000).

🇲🇿 MOZAMBQUE - Hilton Taghazout Bay Beach Resort & SpaThis resort offers direct beachfront access and is an eight-minute walk from Taghazout Beach. Just like Gabon, Mozambique will be tempted to engage in a round of golf at the Tazegzout golf course. The cheapest room goes for $250 (sh880,000).

📍 TANGIERTangier is a historic, culturally rich port city known for its eclectic past, vibrant medina, and views connecting Europe and Africa.
🇸🇳Senegal are the only team based in Tangier. The Lions of Teranga are accommodated at
Fairmont Tazi Palace Tangier. Located a few miles from Tangier Ibn Battuta Airport, this five-star hotel offers its Senegalese visitors an ideal ambiance. The cheapest room goes for $320 (sh1.1m).

📍 FESAnd finally Fes. Visiting the Moroccan city of Fes is like stepping into another world — chaotic, colorful, and endlessly fascinating. This is the spiritual capital of Morocco. Famed for its ancient, historic medina and deep Islamic history, Fes has the biggest medina. The medina is one of the world’s largest urban car-free zones. Here, mules, donkeys and pedestrians flow steadily through the streets. Navigating the medina is adventure on its own and is definitely the biggest highlight of the city.
Like Senegal,
🇳🇬Nigeria are based alone in Fes. The Super Eagles, runners-up in the previous edition, are staying at the
Sahrai Hotel, which is located a few miles from the old medina and 13 kilometres from Saiss Airport. The cheapest room goes for $230 (sh810,000).
