The men's and women's national woodball team captains, Thomas Khedi and Denise Nanjeru, are impressed with the teams' response to training in camp.

Khedi, the men's team skipper, is impressed with the attitude of players at the camp at Bunjako Beach in Buwama, Mpigi District.

The two teams, the men and women, are preparing for the 10th World Cup Woodball Championship, scheduled for July 24-30 at the University of Malaysia in Malaysia.

According to Khedi, the boys and women are in good shape and have the right attitude, with a focus on improving upon their previous performance on the global stage.

"We are focused. The camp is good, and the players are responding well to the training. We have the best players in the country, and we expect better results than at the previous World Cup," Khedi said.

The team received their training kit from the Uganda Woodball Federation on Tuesday, and Khedi noted that this motivated his charges even more.

Khedi also added that the camp environment has helped the players stay focused, and they are responding positively to the training regimen.

Both the men's team of eight players and the women's team of eight players will represent Uganda at the World Cup.

Denise Nanjeru, the women's team captain, added that the girls are more than ready for their opponents.

"It is not going to be easy because every team is coming to win, but I am convinced that we shall perform better," Nanjeru said.

The teams, under coaches Onesmus Atamba and Benson Kanyesige, include the following:

Men: Daniel Apita, Samson Rugongeza, Thomas Khedi (Captain), Isaac Ariho, Isaac Nabugere, David Kabugo, Brian Gwaaka, and Bridge Byamukama.
