A player from Burkina Faso won five bets in a row on AfroPari, all of them Live, across basketball, football and tennis. The odds ranged from 1.20 to 1.84, and the net win came to XOF 3,523,722 (about $6,160).

From the outside, a streak like this looks like a solid plan. In reality, there’s more coin toss in it than meets the eye.

How to read odds

Odds don’t just multiply your payout. They also show how likely an outcome is. Turning them into percentages makes it easier to compare events and see what you’re really betting on. Just divide 1 by the odds: 1.20 is about an 83% probability, 1.50 is 67%, 1.84 is 54%, and so on.

Types of bets and how they differ

A single bet covers one event and one outcome. The payout is smaller, but the risk is easier to control. An accumulator combines several events into one bet, and the odds are multiplied: the payout grows, but every selection has to win.

A rollover is an accumulator stretched over time: after each win, the full return goes on the next bet. The amount keeps growing, but each new step puts everything you’ve already won on the line.

The maths behind the streak

Take three of the player’s five bets. Each one was placed with the winnings from the previous bet, and the amount nearly doubled at odds of 1.20, 1.22 and 1.344. On their own, they all look safe: 83%, 82% and 74%. But when you multiply the probabilities (0.833 × 0.820 × 0.744 ≈ 0.51), the chance of getting through the whole chain is roughly 50/50. A coin toss.

How to keep risk under control

Start with the numbers: when you choose an event, convert the odds into a percentage. Set your limit in advance and stake only 1–5% of the money you’ve put aside for betting on any single bet.

Don’t chase your losses. A winning streak doesn’t make the next bet any safer, because every new event is a separate test. A run of five wins like the Burkinabè player’s is a big stroke of luck: the chances of each new bet don’t depend on past wins.
