Weyonje set sights on top three finish in Netball Super League

After a disappointing sixth-place finish last season, Makindye Weyonje Netball Club has returned to the Netball Uganda Super League with renewed ambition and a clear target of challenging for a top-three finish.
Team captain Dapine Adong believes the team has learned from last season’s shortcomings and is ready to make a stronger statement this campaign through improved teamwork, discipline, and consistency.
Weyonje’s sixth-place finish last season left the players and technical team disappointed, especially after falling behind rivals such as Police Netball Club. The result has since motivated the club to work harder and compete at a higher level.
Head coach Jessie Asiimwe says the team has strengthened key areas, particularly in defence and the midcourt, as they look to become more competitive against the league’s top sides.
“We made a few changes to strengthen the team and so far, the adjustments have started paying off. We have improved in defence and the midcourt, which were areas we needed to work on,” Asiimwe said.
The coach acknowledges the competitiveness of the Super League but insists Weyonje is prepared to take on any opponent.
“We respect every team in the league, but we fear none. We have our targets, and we are focused on achieving them,” she added.
