Disappointment hung heavy in the Ugandan air as Kenya's Rugby Legends once again proved too strong for their Ugandan counterparts, securing a 17-10 victory in the return leg of the fourth edition of the annual Legends Rugby encounter played in Uganda.

Uganda had entered the decisive match with a narrow one-point aggregate advantage after edging Kenya 16-15 in the first leg played in Mombasa on June 9.

However, the visitors overturned the deficit with a composed performance to retain their unbeaten record in the competition, leaving Uganda to wonder what might have been.

Uganda Legends captain Alex Mubiru admitted his side's disappointment after failing to capitalise on several scoring opportunities despite making a promising start.

"We started the game on the front foot, but many of the players failed to make the most of our chances," said Mubiru, his voice heavy with regret.

Despite the crushing disappointment, the skipper praised the growing participation of retired players, saying the event continues to strengthen the rugby fraternity.

"I am happy that the retired players are back in the game. Playing matches like these keeps them involved, and we now need more structured training programs," he said.

Mubiru added that keeping former players active also inspires the next generation, offering a glimmer of hope amid the disappointment.

"When retired players remain involved in the game, their children naturally develop an interest in rugby. That is one of the ways the sport will continue to grow," he noted.

He also applauded the fans for turning up in good numbers to support the event, acknowledging their role in keeping the rugby spirit alive.

Former Uganda international forward Allan Musoke expressed deep disappointment after narrowly missing out on scoring a try, his frustration evident in every word.

"I came on late, and the ball was not coming my way for me to make the kind of runs I used to. We had every chance to win the game, but it was simply not our day," Musoke said, the disappointment dripping from his voice.

Kenya captain Eddy Omondi credited his side's determination after losing the first leg on home soil, though his words offered little comfort to a disappointed Ugandan camp.

"We had to fight hard after losing the first leg at home. This is the fourth edition of the competition, and we have won all of them. We hope Uganda will come back even stronger in the next edition," said Omondi after lifting the trophy.

The match was officiated by South African referee Lesego Legoete, who was assisted by Ugandan referees Ronald Wutimber and Timothy Tumwesigye.
