Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku has been chosen to host the 50th edition of the Uganda Cup final slated for May 25 between Masindi’s highflying Kitara and NEC FC.

The director of FUFA competitions Aisha Nalule confirmed the development on Wednesday in a letter she shared with the two clubs.

To reach the final, Kitara coached by Brian Ssenyondo eliminated Northern Uganda regional side Pajule Lions 4-1 on aggregate, while Hussein Mbalangu’s NEC cruised past 2022 winners BUL on a 3-1 aggregate win.

Kitara has enjoyed Wankulukuku this season, they have been victorious on both visits in the league beating giants SC Villa and Express.

Both teams are aiming to win what will be their first major trophy in topflight football having been promoted from the FUFA Big League last season.

It is safe to say that they deserve to be at this stage after putting up impressive performances in the league where Kitara is second on the table (48 points), and serious contenders for the title.

NEC is in sixth place, six points below table leaders BUL on 49 points, and are also mathematically still in the title race.

Winning the Uganda Cup comes with a ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup, therefore, the side that will be victorious in the final will play continental football next season. How are you s
