Nemostars are on course to stay top in the National Volleyball League after their victory over Ndejje Sharks in Nsambya on Saturday.

Nemostars started fast out of the blocks and looked like the team to beat, racing to an early 25-10 lead. The Sharks had their backs against the wall and needed some good results of their own because of the playoffs which are on the horizon.

They fought hard for parity in the second set but it wasn’t good enough as Nemo stretched their lead to 2-0 winning the set 25-23.

The third set saw Ndejje add a bit more finishing touch to their hard work and they were rewarded with the third set after some fine work from the likes of Emma Kato. They had crossed the line and now Nemostars who were without Benard Malinga and Zungu Fahad were playing while fasting had to give more.

All those things contributed to Nemostars' struggles which handed Ndejje the set 25-23.

The fourth was like a championship for Nemostars who had every intention to stay ahead of Sport-S in the race to the playoffs. They didn’t dally just finish off business in style hence their 3-1 (25-10, 25-23, 22-25 and 25-18) victory.

Coach Tom Amou was happy with the result because it keeps Nemo in the clean with Sport-S still to play this weekend.

“We needed these three points because as it stands we are topping the table. We have 34 points. The only thing that is giving us the difference is that they have 11 wins and we have 12. You want to be in the comfort zone when you are entering the playoffs,” explained Amou.

Ndejje have a chance at redemption when they take on Sport-S. If they can put up a good result they will determine their fate and if they can make the playoffs.
