Hockey coach Vincent Kasasa has vowed to get the Hockey Cranes back to winning ways upon his re-appointment as the lead tactician.

The FIH level three coach comes back to the hockey coaching national team setup after almost 15 months.

“I am glad to have been re-appointed to the role and pledge to get back the Hockey Cranes to winning ways in the coming test series,” Kasasa noted.

The former national team player stated this in an interview with Vision Sports after the Uganda Hokey Association (UHA) released the list of officials for both the men’s and women’s senior national teams.

Kasasa guided the Hockey Cranes to victory at the Hockey AFCON in 2022 against Namibia in a 4-2 win at the Theodosia Okoh Stadium in Accra, Ghana, and has pledged to revive the winning culture of the side.

His expertise will be put to the test at the forthcoming Zambezi Hockey Series in Zimbabwe in late May as he optimistically thinks of the opportunity as a second coming.

Kasasa will be deputised by Bernard Bwire, Byron Matovu as team manager, and Solomon Ogwal as physiotherapist.

The series is for both men and women, the senior women’s team technical bench was also announced with a few retentions made.

Moses Nsereko was retained as head coach, Martin Okello as assistant, Bridget Baine as team manager, and Desire Mukisa as physio. Other team members include Emmanuel Ewochu as the team doctor and Joshua Masawi as the kits manager.

Nsereko will be tasked to make amends having registered no wins during the previous spell as coach of the women’s side in 2022.

He will be tasked with improving the fitness levels of the players.
