The Lady Rugby Cranes have been withdrawn from the World Rugby Challenger Series penultimate leg in Krakow Poland after citing visa issues.

Uganda Rugby Union honorary secretary Peter Odong communicated that the uncontrollable circumstances have led to the unfortunate withdrawal of the squad.

“The current decision has not been taken lightly but the current circumstances leave us no option as despite our best efforts we cannot secure visas for the team on time despite our best efforts to start the process ahead of time and flagging this same challenge to world rugby.”

Eight teams were expected to qualify for the Krakow leg of the challenger series and the women had qualified as the eighth women’s side.

The Union has also put an end to the women’s seven program and will instead prepare the women for the 15’s season just like the men’s team.

The executive committee agreed to send the team to Cote d’Ivoire to play in the Africa Division 1.
