Vipers returned to winning ways after beating Soltilo Bright Stars 2-0 away at Kavumba in the Uganda Premier League.

The Kitende side struggled to find the back of the net in the first half as it ended in a goalless draw.

In the second half, Vipers returned with better venom, and in the 49th minute, midfielder AbdulKarim Watambala gave them the lead after his shot was deflected by Andy Kyambadde.  Four minutes later, Bright Anukani doubled Vipers lead from Abdul Lumala's cross following good build-up play from Eric Kambale.

Substitute Mohamed Salem should have extended Vipers lead after a build-up from Yunus Ssentamu in the 71st minute but had his shot powered over the bar following a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper Derrick Were.

With nine minutes left, Vipers goalkeeper Jack Komakech made a point-blank save to deny substitute Sam Ssenyonjo’s effort. Vipers remained solid as they walked away with three points.

They now have 11 points and behind joint table leaders in Kitara and BUL at 15 points each but the Hoima-based side has a better goal difference.

However, Bright Stars who are 13th with two points out of three games remained in search for their first victory this season.

Bright Stars despite conceding early in the second half, didn't lose their heads. They stayed positive and pushed for consolation or even scoring two goals but they lacked concentration in the striking force Venom's backline also tried to prevent them from breaking them down.

Elsewhere, the Maroons played to a 1all draw with URA at Luzira. Emmanuel Oketch had given the tax collectors the 85th lead before Darius Ojok levelled matters for a home in the added minutes of the game. In Bombo, Express also shared spoils with UPDF away in Bombo in 1all draw. Emmanuel Wasswa had given the Red Eagles a lead early in the 6th minute before defender Bright Vuni equalized for UPDF in the 80th minute.
