Trial game

Uganda 314/5 Tanzania 211

(Uganda win by 103 runs)

It was the perfect way to clear the throat for the Cricket Cranes - a 103-run victory over Tanzania on Wednesday in the first trial game ahead of the final leg of the ICC Challenge League B.

Sumeet Verma was the star of a show that had multiple notable performers with a match-best 106 from 114 balls to go along with bowling figures of 2//32.

Skipper Riazat Shah scored 66 and Raghav Dhawan added 55 as Uganda put on the kind of top-order masterclass that is the stuff of coach Steven Tikolo’s dreams.

Uganda played batted out their overs and had five wickets to spare - it can't get any better. Well, it wasn't long after that the victory was official - this in the first ever game at the new NTS Ground.

Two wickets apiece from Alpesh Ramjani , Henry Ssenyondo and Joseph Baguma sealed the deal for Uganda, even though the hosts held on until the 49fh over. But their resistance was academic.

Next up for Uganda is Hong Kong tomorrow.
