The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has announced it will provide uniforms for all participating teams at this year's national boys' football championship, marking a significant milestone in the association's development.

The tournament will be held at Ngora High School from May 4-14.

USSSA president Justus Mugisha revealed the initiative during a preparatory meeting in Kampala, stating, "We recognize the challenges schools face in competing, and as USSSA, we've found a solution to one of them. Each team will receive two sets of jerseys in their preferred home and away colors for the championship."

Graphics Systems Uganda, based in Luzira, will supply the uniforms for all 64 competing teams. The company's general manager, Trushar Upadhyay, assured participants of quality materials and timely delivery, saying, "We're proud to partner with school sports and guarantee teachers we'll provide top-quality uniforms as promised."

The sponsorship comes as USSSA rebuilds its support system following the withdrawal of long-time sponsor Coca-Cola after the COVID-19 pandemic. For the past three years, the association has relied on Ministry of Education and Sports funding and participation fees from schools to organize the championship.

Defending champions St Julian High School will be among the teams vying for the title at the 10-day tournament in Ngora. This uniform initiative represents USSSA's commitment to supporting school sports despite financial challenges.
