USSSA Teso Zone elects new executive committee to serve 2026–2030

Newly elected Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Teso Zone Chairperson Rev. Okau Robert Nelson has pledged to unite schools across the region through teamwork, dedication, and mutual respect after defeating his two opponents.
The USSSA Teso Zonal Assembly, held on Saturday at Soroti Demonstration Primary School in Soroti City with 55 delegates in attendance, saw Okau, the headteacher of Malera Kabarwa Seed Secondary School in Bukedea District, win the chairmanship after polling 22 votes to defeat Alfred Oluka Okeriau and Tom Odeke, who got 20 and 13 votes respectively.
"I want to thank the Almighty God for giving me trust in leading the Teso Zone, and my appreciation goes to all delegates for entrusting me with the zonal leadership for the next four years," said Okau.

Sylus Oluka, who took the office of the zonal vice chairperson, could not hide his happiness to the august house for giving him trust in a position he has never held before.
"I want to thank the Almighty for the grace and all delegates in general for the trust and consideration. I also want to thank the outgoing committee for the dedicated work over the past couple of years," he said.
Oluka paid special tribute to former leaders who mentored him throughout his journey in school sports administration.
"I appreciate the retiring John Rober Osuu, whose immense wisdom and guidance helped shape the USSSA Teso Zone," he noted.
The election, presided over by Amos Okoboi, the Senior Education Officer of Soroti City, witnessed Sylus Patrick Oluka, deputy headteacher of Toroma Seed Secondary School, elected as vice chairperson after securing 29 votes against Emmanuel Ikwap's 20 votes. Peter Okwii of Ngora High School came unopposed as zonal general secretary.
Moses Edyangu of Kobulubulu Secondary School in Kaberamaido District was elected assistant general secretary, while George Francis Ojangole, headteacher of Mukongoro High School, was elected zonal treasurer after defeating Simon Ekabot, headteacher of Dr. Aporu Okol Memorial SS, with 29 votes against 26.
The position of organizing secretary was taken over by Isaac Ojakol of Anyara SS, who came out unopposed.
The race for Secretary for Women Affairs was won by Godliver Apolot of Olio SS, who secured victory with 29 votes, beating Maria Gimbo, who polled 15 votes.
Other committee members included Alice Achola, Elizabeth Aguti, and Hannington Seno.

Thank you delegates and Bukedi in general for the trust and consideration. I also want to thank the outgoing committee for the dedicated work over the past couple of years," said Sylus Oluka, the vice chairperson.

The zonal elections were conducted across all 19 USSSA Zones with the aim of ushering in new executive committees that will serve from 2026 to 2030.
