Ulanga hails Jaguars after ending JKL's title defence

JT Lady Jaguars coach Sudi Ulanga has praised his players after they knocked defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins out of the National Basketball League (NBL) playoffs with a convincing 68-44 victory at YMCA Court on Sunday.
The win completed a 2-0 quarter-final series sweep after the Jaguars had won the opening game 59-45 on Saturday to book their place in the semi-finals.

"I am proud of the players because they believed in themselves and followed our game plan. Eliminating the defending champions is a big achievement, but we know the job is not finished," Ulanga said.
The Jaguars took control from the opening quarter, racing to a 21-6 lead before extending it to 38-17 at half-time. They never looked back, sealing a comfortable 24-point victory.
Mary Priscillar Nambogo led the scoring with a game-high 23 points, including five three-pointers, while Sarah Ageno recorded a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds. Maimuna Nabbosa added 12 points as the Jaguars' bench outscored JKL's reserves 32-9.
"We defended well as a team and stayed patient on offence. Every player worked hard from the first whistle to the last, and that made the difference," Ulanga added.
Tamasha Nsubuga scored 13 points for JKL, but the defending champions failed to match the Jaguars' intensity as their title defence came to an early end.
Elsewhere, UCU Lady Canons underlined their title ambitions by sweeping KIU Rangers 2-0. They followed Saturday's 68-30 victory with a dominant 82-33 win on Sunday to book their place in the semi-finals.
The only women's quarter-final still alive is between Pearl Queens and Magic Stormers. Pearl Queens recovered from a 51-38 defeat in Game One to beat Stormers 54-41 on Sunday, forcing a decisive Game Three on Wednesday.
KCCA Leopards will also be aiming to reach the semi-finals when they face UPDF Lady Tomahawks on Wednesday at Lugogo Indoor Arena. The Leopards lead the series 1-0 after winning the opening game 60-43, while UPDF must win to keep their season alive.
In the men's playoffs, defending champions Namuwongo Blazers are one win away from the semi-finals after beating JT Jaguars 77-60 in Game One. The Blazers will be looking to complete the sweep on Wednesday.
Ten-time champions City Oilers also hold a 1-0 advantage after defeating KCCA Panthers 58-50. Another victory will send them into the semi-finals, while KCCA must win to force a deciding game.
Rezlife Saints are also on the brink of the last four after edging Sommet BC 68-67 in the opening game. They will hope home-court advantage helps them seal the series when the teams meet again on Wednesday.
