Uganda's Hippos will face Sudan again on Tuesday in the semi-finals of the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) CECAFA qualifiers in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The two sides met in the group stage on Saturday, with Uganda winning 1-0 through substitute Amour Munogera's 71st-minute goal.

The victory sent coach Laryea Kingston's side through as Group B winners with six points from two matches, following their 4-1 opening win over Djibouti.

Sudan finished second in Group B with three points and qualified as the best second-placed team across the three groups, while Djibouti lost both matches and were eliminated.

The other semi-final will see hosts Tanzania face Burundi.

Hosts Tanzania topped Group A with six points after winning both matches.

They opened with a 3-0 victory over Rwanda before beating Ethiopia 4-0 on Saturday.

Burundi dominated Group C, winning both matches to finish with six points.

They began with a 4-0 victory over South Sudan before beating Kenya 2-0.

Kenya and South Sudan drew 1-1 on Saturday, with Jonathan Gem Ajoung putting South Sudan ahead before Brighton Nacheri equalised for Kenya.

Both teams finished with one point and were eliminated.

The two semi-final winners will meet in the final, with the finalists earning the two CECAFA Zone slots at the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 AFCON.
