More than 100 Ugandan golfers are travelling to Kenya for the second season of the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series Migingo Skirmishes, which will take place on October 31, at Limuru Country Club.

The group includes golfers from several clubs, with most coming from the Katogo Golf fraternity at Entebbe Club, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, Uganda Golf Club, and other clubs.

This marks the fourth cross-border event in the Katogo Golf Series. The first event took place at Limuru Country Club in November 2024, the second at Kigali Golf Resort & Villas in November 2025, and the third was held this May at Entebbe Club.

The name ‘Migingo Skirmishes’ comes from Migingo, a small, famous island in Lake Victoria. The event uses the island’s unique story as a fun theme.

Elly Mukasa, Captain of Katogo, has seen the cross-border events grow into highlights of the series. He says this weekend’s event will unite golfers from Uganda and Kenya for another round of competition and a chance to connect with others from the region.

“The quarterly I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series events are some of the most popular outings for our members and the wider golfing community. The cross-border tournaments are especially meaningful because they're about more than just golf. Everyone looks forward to them, and we’re excited to have a great time in Kenya this week,” Mukasa said.

Kenya won the first event, while Team Uganda lost in Kigali but came back to win the return leg of the Migingo Skirmishes in Entebbe. Still, for Kibuuka, the tour means more than just the results.

“In recent years, we have built strong relationships with golf stakeholders across the region. We believe these connections will benefit us for a long time,” he said.

“The bank, which operates across East Africa, is well placed to support efforts that bring people together in its markets. The Katogo Golf Series shows this regional focus by uniting golfers from different countries who share a passion for the sport.

“As part of a regional group, we often work together across our markets, so it’s great to see the series become more regional. We want our customers to know that I&M Bank is "on your side" wherever they are,” said Annette Nakiyaga, I&M Bank Uganda’s Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications.

The event will include a denim-and-white-themed 19th-hole experience. It will also feature Ugandan and Kenyan food, music, and entertainment to wrap up the day’s golf.

Partners include East African Breweries Limited, Nairobi Serena, UDV, RwandAir, Aquafina, and Fenon.
