CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024
Group C
Monday 8pm
South Africa v Uganda
Algeria v Niger
The decisive CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 Group C clash between Uganda and South Africa scheduled for Monday at Mandela National Stadium, has sold out, one day to kickoff.
Ticket sales for this highly anticipated encounter opened on Friday mid-morning, and by evening, all three categories, Ordinary (sh10,000), Silver (sh30,000), and Premium (sh50,000) were gone.
Many Cranes fans who were unaware that sales had begun were left disappointed after finding the tickets sold out online which is the only ticket selling option put in place by CAF.
Reports indicate that some individuals bought tickets in bulk and are now reselling them at inflated prices to desperate supporters who missed out during the official sale.
Over the past 12 days, Namboole Stadium has been the epicenter of celebration for Cranes fans, who have cheered their team to two wins against Guinea and Niger and one loss to Algeria.
This run has placed Uganda at the top of Group C with six points, ahead of Algeria and South Africa, who are second and third on five points each respectively. Guinea (four points) and Niger(one point) have already been eliminated.
Monday’s match carries huge stakes: Uganda needs just a draw to secure a historic first-ever knockout stage appearance in their seven CHAN campaigns, while South Africa must win to stay in the tournament.
In the other group fixture, Algeria will qualify if they avoid defeat against Niger at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi Kenya. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.
