Every football fan dreams of travelling with their team to a major tournament abroad.

However, the costs of air tickets, accommodation, feeding, and other expenses often make this dream unattainable for many.

Uganda Cranes fans now face this reality as their beloved team prepares to compete in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled for December in Morocco.

Those who packed Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, during the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 where the Cranes made history by reaching the quarterfinals for the first time would love to cheer on the team in Morocco.

Unfortunately, only a few fans with the financial means, and those sponsored by companies or well-wishers, will make the trip.

Uganda is drawn in group C alongside three-time winners Nigeria, Tunisia, and East African neighbours Tanzania.

In a gesture to give back to their customers, Cornerstone Asset Managers has announced that it will sponsor 10 lucky Cranes fans with an all-expenses-paid trip to Morocco to watch Uganda’s AFCON matches.

The initiative is part of the “Twende AFCON Campaign”, which was officially launched on Friday at the firm’s head office in Ntinda, Kampala.

“For those who love sport, football in particular, we are here to make things happen,” said Cornerstone Asset Managers Managing Director, Simon Mwebaze, during the launch.

“We saw how well the Uganda Cranes performed at CHAN 2024, and we believe they will rise to the occasion again at AFCON 2025. This is a chance to merge the passion for football, the unity that the Cranes bring to the country, and the importance of investment. We want our customers to enjoy football in Morocco while also exploring opportunities to invest and experience solid returns,” Mwebaze added.

According to the firm’s Head of Marketing and Distribution, Brian Arinda, participation is open to both new and existing customers.

“To enter the draw, all one needs to do is open a Unit Trust Fund and make a minimum deposit of sh100,000. Existing customers will automatically be considered based on their ongoing portfolios. The winners will be selected through a raffle draw,” Arinda explained.

The campaign which began on September 13 will run until November 30, after which the 10 lucky fans will be announced. Interested participants can visit www.cornerstone.co.ug to sign up.
