The Uganda Volleyball Federation will host the 2026 CAVB Zone V Beach Volleyball Championship at Bunjako Beach in Mpigi district from October 21-26.

The 12-team tournament will test the shores of Lake Victoria, Africa's largest freshwater lake.

The Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB Zone V beach tour) event is part of a regional circuit featuring four host cities: Bujumbura, Entebbe, Mombasa, and Dar es Salaam.

The tour will bring together elite athletes from all 12 zonal member countries, including Burundi, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, and hosts Uganda.

Local Organising Committee chairman Moses Opio said they have named a committee that will deliver.

"We previously hosted a successful Africa Nations Championship qualifier and we are banking on that experience to deliver a top-notch event," Moses Opio, chairman of the LOC, said.

Burundi, Kenya and Uganda claimed gold, silver and bronze respectively at the Bujumbura Tour. South Sudan and Somalia are set to make their debut on the sand after missing previous editions.

Hosts Uganda will rely on an experienced side to challenge for the podium, led by beach queens Eunice Amuron and Margrete Namyalo. Burundi's charge will be led by Florian Manariyo, buoyed by the experience of hosting the Volleyball World Bujumbura Pro Tour last August.

Kenya has assembled a formidable team led by Olympian Gaudencia Makokha following their recent National Beach Tour in Mombasa, while Tanzania will use the Entebbe Tour as a perfect dress rehearsal for the Dar es Salaam Tour in December.

CAVB Zone V has injected USD 3,000 (Sh12.2m) in prize money for 32 teams across both genders, with the competition sanctioned by the FIVB and athletes earning valuable world ranking points at each stop.
