Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania fly East Africa’s flag in CHAN last eight

Kenya impressed on debut, topping Group A with 10 points after Ryan Ogam’s late strike sealed a 1-0 win over Zambia. They now face Madagascar on Friday in Nairobi.

The TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 has reached the knockout stage, with all three co-hosts  Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, qualifying for the quarter-finals in a historic first for CAF.

 

Kenya impressed on debut, topping Group A with 10 points after Ryan Ogam’s late strike sealed a 1-0 win over Zambia. They now face Madagascar on Friday in Nairobi.

 

Tanzania also finished top of Group B with 10 points and will meet Morocco in Dar es Salaam, while Uganda broke their group-stage jinx by drawing 3-3 with South Africa to lead Group C on seven points. The Cranes face Senegal on Saturday in Kampala.

 

In Group D, Sudan and Senegal advanced after a goalless draw in Zanzibar. Sudan play Algeria, while champions Senegal prepare for a showdown with Uganda.
