Uganda’s national golf team managed an 8th place finish as the 2026 All-Africa Team Championship ended at the La Foret Golf Course, La Soukra, in Tunisia, October 13-18.

A relatively new team of four comprising Godfrey Kambale, Amon Bwambale, Shaka Kariisa, and Anthony Otukei competed against golfers from 17 countries in the 24th biennial event, hosted by the Africa Golf Federation and the Tunisian Golf Federation.

South Africa staged a dramatic final-day comeback with a team score of 202, finishing with a total of 624 strokes to capture their 13th continental title by four strokes over Morocco (628). Morocco previously won their historic first title in 2022 but it has been South Africa dominating since.

Uganda’s best player was Lugazi Hills Golf and Country Club’s Anthony Otukei who finished 19th overall in the individual standings with 5-over 221 from his best three scores over the 54-hole competition. Kariisa scored 226 while Bwmbale carded 227, with Kambale returning a non-scoring 239. The best three scores count for each country per round.

But Uganda failed to improve on their sixth-place finish registered in the previous event held in Zimbabwe in 2024.

Adrian Andrade (Seychelles) won the individual 54-hole event at 11-under 205, ahead of South Africans Jodan Andrew Wilsenach (208) and Judd Sundelson (209).

This was the biggest entry ever seen in the history of the championship—a clear testament that golf is growing in Africa. The championship was hosted under the luxurious prize sponsorship of Vessel Golf.
