ILT20 Africa Continental Cup
Botswana 119/8 Uganda 125/5
(Uganda win by five wickets)
Joseph Baguma picked 3/20 and Cosmas Kyewuta added 3/26 as Uganda secured their fifth victory in six outings at the ILT20 Africa Continental Cup after defeating Botswana by five wickets at the Rwanda Cricket Stadium in Kigali.
Botswana were put in to bat after losing the toss to Uganda and the result, as the odds suggest, was an outcome that went easily in favour of Uganda.
Baguma and Kyewuta led the charge as the Cricket Cranes restricted Botswana to 119/8 in 20 overs, a mark they would have been confident of eclipsing. It is precisely what they did, with Charles Musemeza and Robinson Obuya scoring 39 and 32 runs respectively. Gerald Olipa added 19 off eight before both Riazat Shah and Kenneth Waiswa finished unbeaten on 17 and 13 respectively.
The win kept Uganda in second place, two points behind Kenya, who are still unbeaten from six games.
Tomorrow, Uganda take on Rwanda tomorrow in Kigali, before a reunion with Kenya on Friday that is likely to determine who wins the tournament.
