Uganda bounces back to reach final in FIBA 3x3 Youth Nations League Stop 2

Uganda showed significant improvement in the second stop of the FIBA 3x3 Youth Nations League Africa North, with the U21 men's team finishing runners-up after missing out on the knockout stage in the opening stop.

The men's team entered Stop 2 determined to bounce back after Algeria defeated them 21-6 in Stop 1. Although Uganda fought hard in the final, Algeria proved too strong, winning 17-11 to claim the title.

Uganda's journey to the final was built on strong performances in the group stage. They started with a 15-10 victory over Kenya after recovering from a slow start. Trailing 7-3, Uganda responded with a strong defensive display and a 5-0 run in the closing stages to secure victory.

They followed that with another impressive performance against Benin, defeating the West Africans 21-18 to book their place in the final. Edrine Ekau played a key role, scoring eight points, including two crucial two-point shots in the closing stages, while Mathew Kisakye added seven points.

The result marked a major improvement for Uganda, moving from failing to progress beyond the pool stage in Stop 1 to finishing second in Stop 2.

The women's team, however, experienced a difficult campaign after winning Stop 1. Uganda lost their opening game 13-11 to Egypt, a result that affected their chances of reaching another final.

They responded with a convincing 10-2 win over Benin, but their low scoring margin left them fourth, missing third place by just one point behind Algeria.
