UCU Canons vs JT Jaguars( YMCA)
9:00PM
The UCU Canons will be aiming to bounce back from a humbling defeat as they take on the high-flying JT Jaguars this Friday, May 9, at the YMCA court in Wandegeya.
The Canons are still reeling from an 82–72 loss to the unbeaten Namuwongo Blazers on May 2 at the Lugogo Indoor Arena. Despite putting up a spirited fight, UCU faltered in the closing minutes, unable to match the Blazers’ intensity down the stretch.
Ibanda Lwabaga led the Canons with 18 points, while Dushime added 14. Joel Kayiira contributed 7 points and pulled down 9 rebounds.
A clutch three-pointer by Dushime tied the game at 72–72 late in the fourth quarter, sending the UCU faithful into rapturous cheers. However, the Blazers responded emphatically, sealing the game with a decisive 10–0 run.
The defeat has left the Canons desperate to rediscover their winning form as they look to climb the National Basketball League standings.
Meanwhile, the JT Jaguars come into the contest as one of the league’s most in-form teams. Sitting third on the table with a 7–2 record, they are riding a four-game winning streak, including a gritty 55–49 victory over the Rezlife Saints in their most recent outing.
With momentum on their side, the Jaguars are proving themselves as serious contenders this season—making Friday’s clash a crucial test for both teams.
