The National Basketball League Women’s semifinals faced major disruptions over the weekend as persistent rain forced multiple game postponements at the YMCA Court in Wandegeya.

On Friday, October 3, Game Two between JT Lady Jaguars and Magic Stormers was halted three minutes into the fourth quarter due to a slippery playing surface. At the time of the stoppage, the Lady Jaguars were leading 54–46 with seven minutes remaining.

Match Commissioner Barbara Okot, along with game officials, deemed the court unsafe for play following heavy rainfall that rendered it unplayable.

The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) rescheduled the remaining seven minutes for Saturday evening. When play resumed, the Stormers mounted a spirited comeback, but the Lady Jaguars held firm to secure a narrow 69–66 victory, taking a 2–0 lead in the best-of-five series.

Sarah Ageno led the charge for the Jaguars with a double-double performance of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Maimuna Nabbosa added 15 points, while Brenda Kayaga chipped in with 10. For the Stormers, Kur Ajah scored 16 points, with Joy Nekesa Mupalia and Daphine Adong contributing 12 and 11 points respectively.

Despite struggling from beyond the arc—shooting just 5-for-26—the Jaguars dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Stormers 57–51 to seal the hard-fought win.

However, further rainfall on Sunday, October 5, forced FUBA to postpone the remaining women’s semifinal games, just moments before the UCU Lady Canons and defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins were set to tip off. Game Three between the Lady Jaguars and Stormers was also affected.

FUBA has now relocated the remainder of the women’s semifinal series to the Lugogo Indoor Arena. The Lady Jaguars are just one win away from reaching their first-ever finals.

According to the revised schedule, the UCU Lady Canons—who lead their series 1–0—will face the JKL Lady Dolphins on Tuesday, October 7, at 9:00 PM. The game will follow the men’s third-place playoff at 7:00 PM between UCU Canons and Sommet. UCU fell to Namuwongo Blazers, while Sommet were defeated by City Oilers in the men’s semifinals.
