Uganda Athletics Federation delegates have called for the amendment of the constitution to ensure that it aligns with the prevailing sports law.
Beatrice Ayikoru, UAF General Secretary, emphasized the importance of constitutional amendments to the federation.
"The constitution amendment was a must to align with the new sports law. Additionally, we also have new regulations from World Athletics that require us to align our constitution with World Athletics regulations," she said.

In attendance was a member of the Uganda Olympic Committee, the vice-president in charge of administrative matters, Dunstan Nsubuga who applauded UAF for always being a model federation and promised thorough support from UOC.
"Meeting and agreeing on what you are to do as a federation minimizes conflicts. With what I have observed today, I can testify that athletics will always perform best in various engagements based on the organisation of its leadership," Nsubuga explained.

This year, the UAF is placing significant emphasis on the Paris Olympic Games, aiming to facilitate the qualification of a larger contingent of athletes compared to previous editions.
The assembly also sanctioned a budget of sh4.6b specifically allocated to activities leading up to July 2024. A substantial portion of this budget, amounting to sh3.2b is expected to be provided by government funding, with the remainder sourced from sponsorships and affiliation fees.
