Ugandan winger Travis Mutyaba has completed a move to Tunisian giants Club Sportif Sfaxien, signing a three-year contract that marks his third club in under two years.
The 19-year-old departed French side FC Girondins de Bordeaux earlier this week after spending just one season with their reserve team.
Mutyaba officially joined CS Sfaxien on July 9, only nine months after signing for Bordeaux from Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek SC. During his stint in France, he featured in 19 matches in the French National 3 division but did not break into the senior squad.
The talented winger began his professional journey at SC Villa in Uganda before making a name for himself at Zamalek, where he played a key role in the club’s triumph in the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup.
His move to Europe in late 2024 was seen as a major leap forward, but the experience in France fell short of expectations.
“I am very happy to start a new journey with Club Sportif Sfaxien,” Mutyaba said after signing. “I will work hard with my new team to secure victories and win titles.”
CS Sfaxien, one of Tunisia’s most decorated clubs, boasts eight Tunisian Ligue titles and three CAF Confederation Cup trophies. The club is currently undergoing a rebuilding phase after finishing seventh in the 2024/2025 league season.
Mutyaba follows in the footsteps of fellow Ugandan striker Yunus Sentamu, who also played for CS Sfaxien. Another Ugandan, Kenneth Semakula, currently features for Club Africain, a fierce rival in the same league.
Despite his frequent club changes, Mutyaba remains a vital part of the Uganda Cranes setup, having earned 21 caps and scored two goals for the national team. At just 19, he continues to be regarded as one of Uganda’s most promising young talents.
