The NSSF KAVC International Volleyball Championship at Lugogo Indoor Stadium delivered an action-packed round of fixtures with thrilling contests across both the men’s and women’s categories.

In one of the standout ties, Rwanda’s APR overcame Uganda’s KCB Nkumba 3-2 after a tense five-set battle.

APR stormed through the first set 25-12, but Nkumba responded impressively, claiming the second and third 25-19 and 26-24. With the game finely balanced, APR rallied to take the fourth 25-19 before sealing the decider 15-6 in front of a noisy crowd.

KAVC-CHAZPIR were in commanding form as they swept aside SKY VC in straight sets, winning 25-15, 25-20, and 25-14. Chema VC had to dig deep to edge Rwanda National Police in a thrilling 3-2 contest, taking the decisive set 15-9 after both sides had exchanged blows throughout.

REG also impressed with a 3-0 victory over Twic Mayardit, before Chema returned to action to post another straight-sets win against the same opponent. In one of the day’s biggest surprises, Rwanda National Police bounced back to beat REG 3-2 after a nail-biting finish in the fifth set.

In Pool C, KCCA showed their class with a 3-0 triumph over Rukinzo, winning 25-22, 25-20, and 27-25. APR also got the better of KAVC-Cubs (GZ) in straight sets, but later faltered against Rukinzo, who pulled off a shock 3-0 victory. KCCA then sealed their second win of the campaign by defeating the Cubs 3-1 after dropping the opening set.

Over in Pool D, Equity made light work of Kampala University with a 3-0 win, highlighted by a dramatic second set that ended 31-29. St. Charles’ Ntinda added to the excitement, mounting a strong comeback to beat KAVC-Alpha 3-2 after losing the opening two sets.

On the women’s side, KAVC-A opened their campaign in style with a dominant 3-0 victory over Cobap VC, winning 25-19, 25-11, and 25-12. In Pool D, APR and KCCA were both made to work hard in five-set thrillers. APR battled past KCB Nkumba 3-2 after recovering from a mid-match slump, while KCCA staged a dramatic comeback against Cobra, overturning a two-set deficit to win 3-2 in front of their home supporters.

The tournament continues through the weekend with more high-stakes clashes as teams jostle for qualification into the knockout stages.
