The Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) has flagged off a team of eight motocross riders to represent the country at the 2025 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship, scheduled to take place in Romagne, France, on July 5 to 6, 2025.

The team comprises highly skilled riders who have been selected based on their outstanding performance in this year’s Mountain Dew National Motocross Championship. This esteemed group of riders will compete in various categories, showcasing their prowess on the international stage.

The riders include Adam Kabuye, Isaac Mutima, Jonathan Katende and Miguel Katende, competing in the MX85cc category, Dan Mitima and Jerome Mubiru for MX125cc, while Ethan Musede and Jamairah Makumbi will participate in the MX65cc category.

This event provides a valuable platform for the riders to demonstrate their exceptional skills, gain international exposure and forge lasting friendships with their counterparts from around the world. Notably, Uganda and South Africa are the only African countries participating in the championship, adding an extra layer of significance to the team's involvement.

During the flag off ceremony, Arthur Blick Jnr, the FMU deputy vice president and team manager, stated that "This is not just about competing, but about representing the spirit of Uganda. Your participation at this level inspires countless young Ugandans to dream big and believe in their potential." This sentiment underscores the team's role as ambassadors for their country, highlighting the impact that their participation can have on the nation's youth.

The team's travel arrangements have been carefully planned, with the riders departing in groups. The Musede family departed on Monday, while the SEMKA Racing Academy riders, including Jerome Mubiru, the Katende brothers, and Adam Kabuye, flew out on Tuesday. The remaining team members will depart tomorrow, ensuring a staggered and well-coordinated departure process.

As the team prepares to take on the best young motocross riders from around the world, they carry with them the hopes and aspirations of their nation. Their participation in the 2025 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship Cup is a significant milestone for Ugandan motocross, and their performance will undoubtedly inspire a new generation of riders in the country.
