KCCA Leopards guard Susan Rebecca Aanyu scored a season-high 46 points to inspire her side to a commanding 98-37 victory over Angels Basketball Club in the NBL Women's game played at Lugogo on Sunday.

Aanyu also registered eight rebounds and two assists.

"Everyone worked hard, defended well, and kept giving me confidence. Scoring 46 points feels special, but the most important thing is helping the club win games," said Aanyu.

Her 46 points are now the highest scored by any player in the league this season.

The Leopards started strongly and never allowed Angels back into the contest. They edged the opening quarter 18-15 before dominating the second period to take a comfortable 47-15 halftime lead.

Aanyu punished Angels throughout the game with sharp shooting from inside the paint, beyond the arc, and at the free-throw line, as the opponents failed to stop her attacking threat.

"We showed good teamwork and stayed focused from the first quarter until the end, which helped us control the game," Aanyu added.

She later urged her teammates to remain focused for the remaining matches of the season.

"We still have important games ahead, and we want to keep improving as a team. This performance should motivate us to fight harder because our target is to finish the season strongly and compete for the championship," she said.

Other KCCA players also made important contributions, with Ninette Uwineza scoring eight points and providing seven assists, while Tracy Namugosa added 11 points.

For Angels, Marion Anyanzwa scored 10 points, while Rebecca Namatovu finished with six points and nine rebounds.

The victory strengthened KCCA Leopards' position in third place on the NBL Women's table with 29 points from 17 matches, having won 13 games and lost only three.
