Multiple-time winners of the USSSA National Boys’ Football Championship, St Mary’s School Kitende, confidently marched into the semifinals of the ongoing tournament in Ngora District.
St Mary’s Kitende dominated Kibuli SS with a 3-0 victory in a tightly contested match held at the Ngora High School playing grounds on Monday.
Claude Arafat opened the scoring in the first half, with Denis Shirkuh and Nkulla Lukunde adding two more goals in the second half to seal the emphatic win for SMASK.

Zungu Hassan, head coach of SMASK, praised his players for their resilience and tactical adaptability.
“I’m very happy with the win. It wasn’t an easy game because our opponents were defending compactly in a low block,” Zungu said.
Meanwhile, Bukedea Comprehensive School (BCS) also delivered one of the day's standout performances, defeating Kyadondo SS 9-7 in a dramatic penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in regular time.
Timothy Bogere, games teacher at Bukedea Comprehensive, lauded his team’s execution and mindset.
“This victory is a testament to our preparation and hunger. We came here with a goal, and today we’ve shown what we’re capable of. Now, it’s on to the next challenge,” Bogere stated.
According to Bogere, the school’s ambitious target is to win the U-20 National Boys’ overall trophy, last lifted by St Julian High School in 2024 in Masaka City.
In another key match, Richard Okello’s 76th-minute goal secured victory, denying Mentor SS of Lira City a spot in the semifinals of the 2025 USSSA National U-20 Boys’ Football Championship.
The semifinals of the 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) tournament continue today, Tuesday, 13th May, ahead of the final showdown on Wednesday.
More than 1,600 players are participating in this championship, organized by the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Sports.
In the girls’ semifinals, St Noah Girls SS defeated Boni Consili Girls 3-0. Meanwhile, Amus College School was scheduled to face Kawempe Muslim School at the Amus College School grounds at the time of reporting.
