Ssenyonjo's stellar form boosts Express FC's Premier League ambitions

Striker Sam Ssenyonjo has been a standout player for Express FC this season, contributing significantly with four goals in just three games.

The former KCCA and Bright Stars forward has shown his prowess and consistency in front of goal, making him a key figure in the team's attack.

His early-season form has provided a strong foundation for Express FC as they push for success in the Uganda Premier League.

He will be eager to replicate his impressive form when Express hosts Lugazi FC on Tuesday. Despite missing two games against NEC and Maroons due to injury, Ssenyonjo has demonstrated his potential every time he has stepped onto the field.

Ssenyonjo's connection with Richard Basangwa, Ronald Andabati, and Geofrey Gagganga has been instrumental in strengthening Express' attacking force this season. Their chemistry on the field has provided fluidity in the team's offensive play, creating more goal-scoring opportunities. His sharpness in front of goal, combined with the support from these teammates, has made Express a more potent threat in the league. This improved collaboration will be crucial as they face Lugazi and could be key to maintaining their attacking momentum.

A win for Express, known as the Red Eagles, will be crucial in their bid to break into the top three of the league standings. Currently sitting in fifth place with eight points, Express is six points ahead of bottom-placed Lugazi. With NEC leading the table at 12 points, a victory could help Express close the gap and climb higher in the standings.

The Red Eagles enter this match after a 2-2 draw against Police FC at Kavumba, while Lugazi also shared the points in a 1-1 draw with Mbale Heroes. This game presents an important opportunity for the Red Eagles to build momentum and strengthen their position in the top tier of the league.

Coach Baker Mbowa remains optimistic about his team's prospects ahead of their match against Lugazi. Reflecting on their 2-2 draw with Police, he acknowledged that while they were unfortunate not to secure all three points, earning a point was still valuable. “We were unlucky not to walk away with three points in our previous game. 

The good thing is we picked a point," Mbowa stated. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the same fighting spirit his team showed against Police. Mbowa also highlighted that they've been working on improving efficiency in the final third, noting past struggles to capitalize on goal-scoring opportunities. With these adjustments, he believes Express is in a strong position to secure a positive result in the upcoming game.
